RAINFALL
|
|
The rain multiplicator is the value that determines the quantity of water before it is gathered in the rain meter receptacle to transmit a pulsation to the base, thus to digitally quantify the rain fall on the LCD. For all rain gauges from our catalogue, the rain multiplicator is set on a fixed value at the factory, according to the type of rain gauge. It is therefore pointless changing these figures manually.
However, it can be easily set by the user between 0 et 9.99 mm. As far as long distance transmission gauges, the factory setting or the setting chosen manually be the user is recorded in the unvolatile memory and can be found and used as a reference, even in case of accidental battery failure.

| Place the rain gauge correctly |
The rain gauge must be placed :
1) On a perfectly flat surface: if the gauge is not level, the measure is erroneous or the movements inside the rain meter can quite simply not work. 2) More than one metre from the ground to avoid the funnel being a place for animal life. 3) Placed far from trees, leaves and other vegetable residues which could block the receptacle.

| Advice on gauge maintenance |
1) Clean the rain receptacle regularly without putting the electronics underwater. To do this, you just need to separate the two parts of the gauge by holding the lower part and turning the upper part anticlockwise : you can thus clean the inside of the receptacle which is often stained by leaf residue, branches and even insects. 2) Take advantage of the dismantled gauge to check the good working order of the seesaw (without force), which is the vital element of your rain meter. Please note the majority of breakdowns result from: *** the obstruction of the flow of rainwater, which leads to the accumulation of water and the malfunction of the electronics *** the blocking by the external parts of the seesaw.
