RADIO CONTROLLED TIME
  DCF 77

The time used is based on an atomic caesium clock, used by the "Physikalisch Technische Bundesanstalt" in Braunschweig in Germany, whose margin of error is less than a second per million years.
The time is coded and transmitted from Mainflingen near Frankfurt by means of DCF-77 frequency signals (77,5 kHz), the range of which is about 1.500 Km.

Appliances equipped with reception modules receive the signals and convert them to indicate the exact hour (summer or winter time).
At the same time, the signal transmits the date, which allows for the automatic setting of electronic calendars linked to the Radio Controlled Clock... (As on our Temperature Stations). The quality of reception depends largely on the geographical situation.
There is usually no problem with reception within a 1,500 km radius of Frankfurt.
  Confirmation of DCF-77 reception

The appliance - Alarm, Clock, Temperatures Station, Weather Station or once again Pro Weather Station, starts scanning the DCF-77 frequency signals as soon as the batteries are installed.
Within the standard radius (1,500 km around Frankfurt) and in a normal environment, away from any possible sources of interference, the signals are received within 3 to 5 minutes.

In case of non-reception of DCF-77signals, 10 minutes after installation of batteries, check what happens subsequently before setting the time manually :

1) The appliances must be placed at least 1.5-2 metres away from all potential sources of interference such as computer monitors, televisions etc...
Please note that the signal will never be picked up in geographical gaps where other waves, such as television ones, don’t pass.

2) Avoid placing appliances immediately next to metal window frames. These are a potential source of interference.
3) Within thick-walled areas such as cellars and tower blocks (Reinforced concrete or stone walls....), the DCF-77 signals are naturally weakened.
4) Appliances may also be found in areas where atmospheric disturbances are the direct cause of any absence of any DCF-77 frequency signal reception.

THEREFORE, IN CASE OF NON RECEPTION :

--In extreme cases, place the appliance near a window and/or turn the front or back towards the Frankfurt antenna (avoid frames and metallic structures).
--At night, disturbances are fewer: it is often necessary to wait 24 hours to pass so that the appliance can adjust to the DCF signal.
--One daily reception is sufficient for your appliance to indicate the exact hour with a margin of error of less than 0.5 seconds per 24 hour period.
--When the reception is successful, the DCF-77 tower icon starts flashing on the display to indicate that the signal has been located and that it will be received. Once the signal is locked, the DCF-77 tower icon remains still and the manually set time is automatically corrected
--The DCF 77 tower does not appear constantly on your appliance LCD : certain products will only search the signal once an hour, others once every 6 hours, others still, once every 24 hours, and at night. There is no need to worry if your appliance’s LCD does not always display this DCF tower.
  DCF 77 and 433 MHz

Caution, Do not get confused!!!!!

The DCF-77 signal is a time signal which ONLY transmits the time (And secondary elements such as the day, date, month and year). And this signal is transmitted from the ONE FIXED POINT IN EUROPE.
The transmission at 433 MHz (and in certain cases 868 MHz) is not at all similar to the DC-77 signal and has no involvement in the setting of the time...

The transmission at 433 MHz (and in certain cases 868 MHz) has only recently been regulated by a European directive known as R&TTE...in other words for very short distance transmissions. In order to avoid, as with previous restrictive regulations, the origins of which, were in many cases military authorities, Brussels has allowed short distance transmission but with strict standards, so as to respect the immediate user environment for this type of appliance.
The 433 MHz and 868 MHz frequencies are authorized by Brussels for the transmission of weather data.
  Projected time

Alarm clocks with Projection font require a sophisticated technology, applied simply.

The products in our catalogue possess several totally exclusive functions :

--An auto focus lens
-- multi-directional projection
--An alternate projection of time and outdoor temperature (When the chosen appliance possesses this …)
--A permanent projection thanks to the mains plug.
